For those
families who have a higher income, the fee
may rise to $18. Some families, depending on their financial status, will need
to pay a small co-payment whenever they receive care, but
low-income families rarely have a co-pay at all.
Private care health insurance companies provide CHIP to Texans
eligible for coverage. It covers hospitalization, surgery,
x-rays, therapy, prescriptions, mental health, substance abuse,
emergency room care, dental and eye exams, and immunizations.
Can I enroll my children into the program if I am a non-custodial
parent who has been ordered to provide health insurance for my
kids? No. The federal guidelines state that the children
must be living with the person who enrolls them in the program.
