Protecting
Your
Child's
Right

Insurance
Did you know that almost every child in America is
eligible for health insurance? Even if you don’t have employer-paid healthcare,
you can still take solace in the fact that the federal and state
governments are moving quickly to ensure your kids are cared
for – even if most adults are not.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services launched Insure
Kids Now, which links parents to free or low-cost health
insurance options for their children. The insurance isn’t restricted to county
settings, but covers preventative doctor’s visits, prescription medicine, and emergency care – just
like most full-coverage group plans. Some states even offer dental
and eye care, and medical equipment if needed.
Each state runs their own program,
so the rules and regulations vary within each locale. But in
most states, as long as the child is under 18 years old, and
the family makes less than $34,000 a year for a
family of four, you’ll be eligible for coverage.
All you have to do to find
out if your children are eligible is call 1-877-KIDS NOW. Coverage is renewed
every 6 to 12 months, and as long as your
family still qualifies, the kids will remain covered.
