Could

Underinsured? - Part
Two
Does the company put a cap on lifetime
benefits? Many companies will only pay up to a set dollar
amount – generally $1 million. This might sound like a lot
now, but when you or a loved one are involved in a catastrophic
event or develop a life-threatening illness, $1 million will look
like pocket change compared to your hospital bill.
Look for an insurance policy that offers
comprehensive coverage – including preventative doctor’s visits,
hospitalization, and prescriptions. You don’t want to discover
your doctor has prescribed a drug that has no generic counterpart
and costs you an arm and a leg.
Look at the insurance company’s list of
allowable charges. These are charges they’ll cover – sometimes
only with a call beforehand to notify them of an impending
procedure. You want to have your doctor look it over, too, to
make sure the list is comprehensive in comparison to what doctors
normally charge patients.
Your mental health can directly affect your
physical condition, so you want to make sure your health insurance
also covers more than half of those costs, should you need to begin
seeing a specialist in the mental health field.
